There is a downside to this arrangement. The matchmaker profits only if an alliance is made. There is a pressure on the matchmaker to see that the parties agree with each other and uses his influence to see that the alliance goes through. Each community has its professional matchmaker. This gives the matchmaker the choice to focus on a particular community.
