Sikh marriages are classified as "Anand Sanskar" which when translated means 'Joyful Ceremonial'. Sikh marriages are without any class or caste. All that is required is a belief in Sikhism. Some other stipulations which are of a general nature are: A Sikh Daughter must be married to a Sikh - A Sikh marriage should be solemnized by Anand Marriage rites - Child marriage is taboo and a girl must have attained the age of 16 years - Following any Muslim or Hindu custom is sacrilegious.
